Celebrating Transformation: Justice Nest Graduates 33 Paralegal Trainees at Shimo La Tewa Prison
On February 7, 2025, Justice Nest celebrated a historic milestone with the graduation of 33 paralegal trainees at Shimo La Tewa Prison in Mombasa. This diverse group of graduates, comprising both inmates and prison officers, completed an intensive paralegal training program designed to empower them with legal knowledge and skills.
The graduation ceremony, held at Shimo La Tewa Prison, was a powerful celebration of resilience, redemption, and the transformative power of education. Certificates of completion were awarded by Justice Nest’s Founder and Executive Director, alongside Commissioner of Prisons Peter Chege, in a ceremony filled with hope, pride, and a shared vision for a more just society.
This program, which included cohorts from the three prisons in Mombasa, is a testament to Justice Nest’s commitment to bridging the justice gap. The graduates are now equipped to provide critical legal assistance to their fellow inmates, ensuring access to justice for all.

This initiative is not just about education—it’s about transformation. It’s about giving individuals the tools to change their lives and the lives of others, fostering rehabilitation, and building a more equitable justice system.
