Visiting Day on May 15th 2026, International Day Of Families

Justice Nest to Host #SheIsStillMyMom a Family Reconnection Event

On 15 May 2026, in commemoration of the International Day of Families, Justice Nest will host the #SheIsStillMyMom family reconnection event on International Day of Families at Lang'ata Women's Prison in partnership with Kenya Prisons Service.

The initiative seeks to restore moments of connection between mothers who are in prison and their children by creating a safe and dignified space for families to interact, share meals, play, and reconnect. At the heart of the campaign is a simple but powerful reminder: to a child, she is still mom.

The event brings together organizations and partners who believe in restorative justice, dignity, healing, and family-centered approaches within the justice system.

Justice Nest is grateful for the support and collaboration of its partners, including ZubaCX, whose people-centered technology approach prioritizes meaningful human experiences; Pesi Pesa Capital Kenya, which supports small and medium enterprises through accessible financial services; and Javans Coffee, a proudly Kenyan company championing quality coffee while supporting farmers and livelihoods across the coffee value chain.

Additional support has been provided by Powercom Limited, a leader in energy and telecommunications infrastructure; Wangu Kanja Foundation, which works to restore dignity and support healing for survivors of sexual violence and their families; and Indomie Kenya, whose contribution supports the wellbeing and experience of participating families.

Justice Nest also appreciates the partnership of Mash Foundation Trust, Luxe and Allure Events, and Pillar Audio Visual Services, whose support is helping create a welcoming and memorable environment for children and mothers during the event.

The initiative is further strengthened by Irvine's Group, whose long-standing commitment to communities across Africa continues to create opportunities and support livelihoods, and The Nairobi West Hospital, whose commitment to accessible and compassionate healthcare reflects the importance of dignity and care for all.

Through this collective effort, Justice Nest and its partners hope to remind families that connection, love, and belonging can still exist even in spaces marked by separation.

The organization welcomes additional partners, volunteers, and supporters to join in making the event meaningful for every child and mother involved.
